Planting the Seed
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and lived there until I took a leap of faith and relocated to Clayton, North Carolina (20 minutes outside of Raleigh, North Carolina) in 2016. It’s safe to say this city girl has always been a country girl at heart, contributed to the fact that I spent many summers as a child in the south. Despite my southern roots and my love for southern living, after graduating college, I returned to New York and began my career providing and managing services for families and individuals in need. That’s where my passion and purpose for helping and coaching others was planted, and that’s essentially what led me to become a Certified Transformational Life Coach.
Certified Life Coaches have successfully completed extensive training that teaches them the powerful questions, tools, techniques, and communication skills to help you discover your desired areas of improvement in order to become the best version of yourself.
Nurturing the Seed
I’ll get straight to the point, I’m a true believer in life transformations. There’s no doubt that the process of making positive life changes and transformations is not easy, not by a long shot, but they are essential ingredients for growth, healing, and an effective form of self-therapy. Through my professional and personal experiences one thing that I’ve seen tried and true, is that life transformations and positive lifestyle changes are game changers. That’s major key, that’s why I’m here, doing this work as a life coach. I want every woman in need of this message to embrace this fact…You can absolutely live the happier, healthier, more fulfilling, life of your dreams. You don’t have to remain unhappy with any aspect of your life, not one. Society tells us we can have and be anything in this world, but no one teaches us how. I created this community and these coaching programs to encourage and help you find your how.
Life Gave Me Lemons, So I Made a Lemon Pound Cake
It was January of 2020 when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. Prior to this diagnosis I was working full time, exercising regularly, eating healthier, commuting two hours a day, caring for my teenage son, and being a wife to my husband of three years, I was as they say…hustling and bustling.
It came out of nowhere: I started feeling ill, tired, even weak at times. My primary doctor, at the time, brushed off my concerns and symptoms. I chalked it up to just being tired from my daily grind. Then, during a visit, my mom (moms really do notice everything) took one look at me and insisted I go get a second opinion…I did, albeit reluctantly, and my world suddenly turned upside down
I took a medical leave to begin treatment immediately, informed my supervisor and HR at my job, and for all my hustling and bustling, sacrifice, and hard work, they shortly thereafter let me go. I simply got a letter in the mail, no call, no get well soon card. Flowers? Not even close. Just a letter stating I could reapply for another position in the future, basically a notice that I no longer had a job. This set me back emotionally for a hot minute… but I had a much bigger battle to fight. Setbacks and disappointments aside, my focus quickly shifted to beating this cancer that had invaded my body and my life.
During my countless treatments, I sat in hospital beds and patient chairs, praying for healing and divine guidance, thinking about what really matters to me– I knew it was time to do some more inner work.
And naturally, I gravitated towards my own steps for transformation. This transformation was my intentional attempt to beat cancer, in addition to all of the treatments, surgery, and medical procedures. This life transformation, I believed, would manifest the long, healthier life that was ahead of me. And just as I had coached many clients to do throughout my career, I took all the lemons given to me and I made a lemon pound cake.
To date, I’m still fighting cancer, and throughout this fight, I’ve discovered my true passions and purpose. After all my years of coaching, encouraging, and supporting women in many different stages of life, I became certified as a life coach and transformed My Recipe My Therapy LLC from a self-care and self-love community, into a life coaching community centered around self-care and self-love. My mission is to help women discover the key ingredients they need to create their signature recipe for shaping their lives into something much more than whatever lemons life is throwing at them.
Life transformation coaching called me to give women like you and me, a way to craft a whole new way of thinking and execution that sticks–because it’s based on what you need most–the best version of YOU.
